Maria Souza
Born in Recife, Brazil, Maria was the very first woman to tow into the powerful waves at Jaws. Competing in gymnastics until she fell in love with surfing at age 13 Maria travled the world surfing and then settled on the North Shore of Oahu to build her big wave surfing skills. When she moved to Maui, with the ex husband, Laid Hamilton together with Buzzy Kerbox and Dave Kalama, pioneered tow-in surfing. After giving birth to their daughter BELA, she began to train hard again for tow-in surfing. Maria also excels at kite and windsurfing.
